Biographie

Photography Studies are part of the Department of Media at the School of Arts, Design and Architecture at Aalto University, Helsinki, Finland. Our mission is to educate professionals who explore, understand and challenge photography and its role in a constantly changing society; professionals who act as self-reliant, courageous and resourceful artists and photographers.
Aalto University offers a high-quality educational environment focusing on photography. Our uniquely designed, multidisciplinary and international Master’s and Doctoral programs allow students to develop their skills and professional identities via various approaches, from fine art and professional photography to academic photography research. Our unit is also the home of the acclaimed art collective, Helsinki School, and the Helsinki Photomedia international research conference.
