Tokborné, in Lebanese Arabic, literally means bury-me! This traditional expression is in fact a sign of affection. It is often used by Lebanese mothers to express their kindness towards young people. The ambivalence of this expression sums up the many contradictions at work in this country in perpetual rebirth. On the political, denominational, territorial plan, Lebanon tries to free itself from ancestral patterns to be as one with its era and envisage a better future.
