Présentation

The Smiley Cut is a visual chronicle of my journey through cancer treatment. The medium of photography provided me with a way of working through the stages of grief and coping with the transformative journey my body was undertaking. Through these images, I regained a measure of control over my own physicality. Just as time seemed to stretch on forever, a quiet refuge emerged in the forest near my home - Safjället. This serene landscape became my sanctuary. I've run and walked in it many times.
I've met friends there, I've photographed it, I've made it part of my journey.
In this work, the public becomes private and the public private as a need for expression and connection through empathy and vulnerability.
