Biographie
Born in 1981 in Aubonne, Switzerland. Matthieu Gafsou begins his higher learning with a master degree in cinema, literature and philosophy and then choses to study at Vevey's Graduate School of photography. Since 2006, he has participated in numerous exhibitions, published five books and received multiple prizes. He has been teaching at the ECAL since 2012 and is a member of the agency MAPS ever since it was created, in 2017.
Présentation
Matthieu Gafsou followed Lausanne’s drug scene for more than a year. By using
various formal approaches, he documented the daily life of drug addiction with distance
and precision. The dignity of his portraits of long-time drug abusers, with their sharp-
featured faces, personalises a problem whose approach is usually social or medical.
