Présentation
« Gypsy Architecture » is the fruit of a series of voyages made in Romania and Moldavia between 2003 and 2005. Carlo Gianferro photographed the homes of sedentary Rom families. In the profusion of styles and of objects we can perceive the contradictory aspirations of these recently installed families: the wish to integrate but at the same time the concern to transmit traditions, the protection of the intimacy of the family home but also the need to demonstrate new-found wealth and importance. An aspiration to a dignity is present in their demeanor and regards, those of the elders and young alike, bearers of a diverse and proud heritage
