Biographie

FotoK was founded in 2004 with the aim to operate an institution that discusses and promotes the produc-
tion of photography, within the context of contemporary art, in a consistent and sustainable manner. This is achieved through an open-minded and flexible structure, that are operated on multi-levels, that are networked together, overlapped or run concurrently. The dynamic outcome is to continuously provide impetus for the artistic production of photography in Austria. Its focal bases are therefore the dissemination of knowledge, the national and international exchange and the publication of artistic work, through which a continuous exhibi- tion programme of contemporary photographic positions is displayed in the two exhibition rooms at fotoK [2| Gallery and fotoK [3] OFF. An integral part in the implementation of the objectives is to operate a high-quality production facility for digital and analogue photography. The most proficient level of knowledge and support is provided from the conception, through recording, up to the preparation and presentation of artistic projects.

The fotoK School of Photography offers a number of different ways of training and further education in the field of artistic photography.
Since 2004, fotoK is a fixed element in art education and is aimed at those who want to fundamentally and practically deal with photography as an art form. We understand photographic art as a medium, that is addressed by personal thoughts, experiences and situations. The aim of the training is to apply photography as an artistic medium, and to define and offer support at different levels.
