Présentation

The millennia-old landscape paintings of a famed Chinese artist, combined with a Korean legend, serve as dual inspirations for this poetic, surreal series of contemporary photographs.

During two different seasons, summer and winter, Franky Verdickt escaped three times to South Korea and made long walks throughout this country and its numerous beautiful islands.
Keeping in mind a sentence from the Chinese painter Guo Xi (c. 1020-1090) “Nobody likes to be hindered by worldly troubles”. Verdickt interprets freely this 1000 year old painter which influenced generations of Asian artists. Verdickt is using photography as a projection what could be a desire for a perfect world.
