Présentation
Champ de Bataille invests the European collective memory not as a frozen territory but as a space in mutation, for the occasion of the 80 years since the end of the second world war. At a time when identity narratives are being used as bulwarks, this project seeks to crack open and reveal the underlying fragility of great collective narratives. In the form of photozines that combine photography, critical research and formal experimentation, each chapter of Champ de Bataille is a step in an ongoing reflection, where the editorial object becomes itself a memorial investigation tool and a testimony of this investigation. The first chapter, Dies irae, questions the fate reserved for women publicly humiliated during Liberation. In a collective euphoria of justice, twenty to forty thousand women were accused of «horizontal collaboration» and mowed in public. This ritual of humiliation, often arbitrary, served to rebuild a moral and patriarchal order destabilized by war rather than punish.
