Présentation

Moving the capital of a state is a major decision. In 1998, Kazakhstan inaugurated its new capital and Almaty gave way to Astana, located 1300 kilometres further north. The most recent capital in the world after Pyinmana (Burma), it is also a symbol of a new beginning and an initiative that appears to be unique in the post-Soviet space.
