Présentation
White Noise is a work about accumulation. I seek to understand and accept myself through hundreds of snapshots taken over the last few years, impulsively and without a defined objective.
Nevertheless, silver-based photography imposes a rhythm and limits on my bulimia for life and images. At the same time, it lends legitimacy to these everyday details.
The choice of mundane subjects and imperfect framing reassures me, and excludes excellence and competition.
Reflection on the search for image associations ends up becoming the subject itself, to the detriment of the object.
Exchange and interaction take the place of creation.
White Noise questions the how, not the what.
-(...)Constant exposure to high levels of white noise is a form of torture through sensory deprivation.
-(...)White Noise has hypnotic properties, exploited by devices sold to help babies fall asleep.
-(...)In 2018, a study indicates that white noise may accelerate brain aging, and advises against long-term white noise therapy.
-Rats subjected to loud white noise (...) show a decrease in(...) arousal, stress and the etiology of post-traumatic stress disorder.
These noises(...) could be a "non-pharmacological alternative" to many sedative and hypnotic drugs used to combat insomnia, various psychiatric disorders, or to prevent the onset of post-traumatic stress disorder.
For other authors, white noise is often considered unpleasant (Wikipedia Déc 2022).
In Déc 2022, this project was the subject of an artistic residency at éspace Transit, Montpellier, and a collaboration with Alessio Ghezzi, a composer who graduated from the Venice Conservatory.
