Présentation

In January 2007, Bulgaria joined the European Union.
An old dream came true. Nevertheless, forty-five years of communism have left a lasting mark on the country: the past is omnipresent and seems to prevent any future, and the future has to be reinvented by juggling with the many uncertainties and absurdities it brings with it. Today, time seems to have stood still. Nostalgia for the past fills the void, and desires are surreal. Current poverty and the hope of a prosperous future rub shoulders anecdotally, blending into the Bulgarian landscape. As in fiction, reality remains deceptive. Is the boundary between reality and fantasy disappearing before our very eyes?
