Prison de plastique

Présentation

Christophe Chammartin photographed the migrant agricultural workers employed in the vast acres of plastic greenhouses in the Alméria region of southern Spain. His intention to bear witness to a world in all its social and political aspects manifests itself in the very form of the images. The visual strangeness of these scenes, situated nonetheless in the Europe of today, confound our benchmarks, our codes of identification. They underline the singularity of the situation these men are placed in, maintained in a sort of limbo, inhabiting a world without name or sense.
