My paternal grandfather was a "collabo".
As a teenager, I always told myself that this must be serious because resistance fighters had shot him in 1944. Of course, my family had put a lead cover on this shameful secret. Even though I am second generation, I have the feeling that I have inherited his guilt. To talk about it with my father was to be told "you can't understand it anyway".
