Here the photographer didn’t have to stage anything; the decor was already in place, the space naturally theatrical. In this instance the photography sublimates its power of realism in the restitution of an unreal world. And it is as if, suddenly, under the accumulation of artifice, the truth of our childhood melancholies appears at last.
