Présentation

Since I was a child, I have walked its hillsides, its plateau, its forests. It is much later that I became aware of the importance of this territory in the resistance to the Nazi occupation. My meeting with the commander "ROCH" and the stories of that time, literally teleported me to that period.

I fled from farms to hamlets, taking part in the maquis, sometimes as a sniper, sometimes as a member of the Bir Hakeim maquis, and sometimes as a survivor of the ambush at Fontjun.
I felt the cold, the hatred, the fear and the hunger.
I slept under the ferns on the ground, I was betrayed, wounded, shot.
I measured the value of my companions, their courage, their ardor, whatever their origins, their beliefs or their political convictions.
I measured the heroism of these women and men who chose Caroux rather than the Vichy government.
