Biographie
Françoise Galeron lives and works in Arles. Previously a farmer, she has devoted herself to photography since 2009 and graduated from the École Nationale Supérieure de la Photographie d'Arles in 2013. Her work, at the crossroads of poetic fiction and documentary, focuses on the notion of territory and what constitutes its DNA. She has taken part in a number of festivals and exhibitions, including Voies-Off in Arles, the Festival Présence Photographie in Montélimar, Supervues in Vaison-la-Romaine, Galerie Le Lac Gelé in Nîmes, Photaumnales in Beauvais as a guest of Géraldine Lay, the Photons Festival in Vilnius, Lithuania, Boutographies in Montpellier, Les Nuits Photographiques in Pierrevert, and the Prix Polyptyque at the Centre de la Photographie in Marseille in 2022. His work Les Mourvens was exhibited at the Rencontres de la Photographie d'Arles 2024.
Présentation
My photographic work is the fruit of several years' immersion in a familiar rural environment: a simple parcel of farmland in the Les Raffis district of the Camargue that my parents bought in the 1960s and whose ten hectares remained undevelopable for a long time.
It took me some time, the circumstances of life, to resolve to live there myself, to take on the easements and constraints as set out in the notarial deeds. It took time not just to be subjected to this place, but also to think about reinventing it and multiplying it through photography.
