Présentation
André, my maternal grandfather, born in 1945, grew up in Razès, a village 25 km from Limoges, in a family of millers with a wage for eight. There were no differences, no festivities, no outings and no holidays.
He discovered the mountains on a school trip, and the sea during his school-leaving certificate year.
At the age of 14, he set off on an adventure by moped to Mont-Dore, then to La Rochelle the following year. Since then, his thirst for adventure has never left him.
André is a handyman, an adventurer, a fisherman, a collector (of motorbikes, cars, knives, knick-knacks, clocks, cameras, etc.), a French lawnmower tractor champion in 1988 and a compulsive photographer. At nearly 78, he continues to criss-cross France and lives part of the year in a camper van.
I became a photographer thanks to him. I was 3 years old when he gave me a toy camera and, when I was 16, his Zenit 35 mm. My love of travel and adventure is also thanks to him: from the age of 6 months, he took me with him in his camper van.
Fascinated by family albums since my childhood, in 2023 I borrowed all his archives and discovered a series of slides of his holidays and moments with friends.
A "slice of life", as he puts it, "it was everyday life, the good life, we weren't demanding".
