Stripped, dominated, today the Innu are trying to raise their heads and resist, in the heart of a Canadian nation that makes no mention of their existence in its history books? Archaeological digs attest to the presence of the Innu people on the northeast coast of Canada 8,000 years ago. Descendants of a community that most likely came from Central Asia on foot through the Bering Strait during the last Ice Age, hunter-gatherer people, their material culture and beliefs are intimately linked to the boreal forest and the tundra that they roamed. A rich territory they call Nitassinan.
