Biographie

Born in 1956, I lived for a long time in the Parisian suburbs between a train yard and an airport. My first camera was a Nikkormat given to me by my brother as a teenager.
Amateur of photographs in the noblest sense of the term, that is to say passionate, I very early joined the national association Objectif Image.
I have been living in Montpellier for several years and collaborate with the animation of Objectif Image Montpellier.
My photographic work is made of poetry and everyday life, I like to inscribe my photo practice in simple and seemingly banal things. Day by day, I weave a web of images mostly in black and white. A way of being in the world.

Présentation

Two centuries of photographs. At the origins, the debate was between the Daguerrean plate well better defined than Talbot’s Calotype; the academy of sciences were for sharpness and the academy of fine arts for pictorial subtlety.
Two centuries later, the arrival of the digital image brings a flood of digital consumption and imposes a standard model of the "beautiful" image, technically successful; with great software to eliminate what is not suitable. (the best camera for a better image)
In the future, the word will replace the photographic act.
We look at the world through sanitized screens, shaping our perception, standardizing a model of thought.
Two centuries, nothing has changed. The debate remains between a poetic photograph that tells the world of the one who observes it and a dehumanized photography by an increase in "advanced" technology.
Against the current of industrial logics of consumption, complicity with a rudimentary device, all made of plastic, Holga, invites me to play, to make mistakes, to refuse to be assisted, to accept the unexpected and the failures with the impression of being in front of a dreamed image, fragment of thoughts and impressions, like a melancholy that lulls the soul. And especially to be aware of the photographic act.
