Ex Materia is a battle. A battle for life in the nuclear age. More than 30 years after the Chernobyl accident, Eleonora Strano returned to the place where she grew up, in the south-east of France, and brought to the surface questions left unanswered. In this imbalance created by the memory of the catastrophe, she photographs a world, between past and future, where humans and animals try to invest a threatened, altered landscape. Emerging from the darkness, the life force takes the form of a dance, subtle, charged with emotions and underground energies. A complex choreography that speaks to us of the future through the prism of the life of a valley and its mountains, and of its scars. The series proposes to take the spectator into the depths of the valley, in search of a possible repair.
