Eloignement

Présentation

Eloignement is the title of a series of photographs which all use the same technique, they are presented on two different supports. The translucent paper (crystal) which is generally used to protect the negatives and the non-woven paper which is a kind of light and translucent tarlatan. Coated with a sensitive photographic emulsion, these supports then become real photographic papers. Camille Bonnefoi has been practising photography for five years. The theme of the body is always present in her work. What attracts her is to propose another aesthetic and another look at the body. She talks about the aesthetics of the fripé. Far from the canons of beauty, her bodies are woven of wrinkles, folds and bulges. A work centred on folds. Under the action of the emulsion deposited on the crystal paper, which reveals the traces of the brush, this effect accentuates the folds and removes the sharpness of the initial image. His images then resemble a charcoal drawing. By refusing the culture of the woman doll, of the sculpted body, the aesthetics of pictorialists such as Demachy Puyo or Lewis Caroll, has imposed itself in his approach. By shedding light on the clues of the past that are the forms used by Ingres and Man Ray, Camille Bonnefoi has deliberately chosen an aesthetic of the image with the notions of folds and the passing of time. In this work on the aesthetics of the crumpled up comes a bias to show what is conventionally ugly, insignificant, shameful and of little existence, to metamorphose all this into something beautiful.

Remoteness is a set of little bits of bodies, like those we see in the loving embrace, but with the necessary distance to detach oneself from the carnal.
