Biographie
Dimitris Mytas, born in 1970, is a photographer based in Athens, Greece.
He entered the world of photography in the early 90s. Since then, he has devoted himself to developing his creative relationship with the photographic medium on a daily basis.
He has had a dozen solo exhibitions in Greece and has taken part in numerous group exhibitions, both in Greece and abroad.
Présentation
The Elephant project is the photographer’s interpretation of the "empty nest" syndrome in psychology. It emerged as a reaction to his son leaving home for studies. The enormous bulk of the Elephant, installed in the living room of their home, symbolizes the paradoxical and suffocating feeling of lack of vital space. The photographer sought refuge his archives, where he discovered his shared evolution as both a father and a photographer. The sequence of the series of images inevitably leads to the photograph of the child's figure walking away in the snowy landscape, thus presenting the redemptive proposition of the photographic project. The child, as it should be, is now free to discover life seen in the big picture.
