Richard Petit’s images are in the tradition of the Düsseldorf School : frontal and recognisable. Simply placing oneself in front of the World, at the right distance. A physical distance, but also an emotional one. Trying to find the right place, so that the regard is neither documentary, nor artificial. It could be an imaginary place, but it’s real enough.
