LES BOUTOGRAPHIES IS A FESTIVAL OF CONTEMPORARY CREATIVE PHOTOGRAPHY

open to all photographers living in Europe

The criteria for selection by a jury of professional in the photographic field are a height creative level, originality and a coherent personal vision.

  • TWO SECTIONS WILL BE PROGRAMMED

The official selection (on the walls) and the selection Jury Projection (in projection).  You don’t need to choose. If you are selected by the Jury, your work will automatically be assigned to one of these two selections.

  • THREE PRIZES ARE GIVEN DURING THE FESTIVAL

For the official selection
The Jury prize, for a total of 1000 € + the purchase of photos by the Town of Montpellier for a value of 2500€
The Exchange prize (an exhibition at the festival Fotoleggendo in Rome) 
The Public prize (help with the production of an exhibition by our partner Photon, professional photo lab).

  • THREE SPECIAL AWARDS ARE GIVEN DURING THE FESTIVAL

For the official selection
Réponses Photo (a portfolio published in the magazine, with remuneration)

For the Jury projection
Laboratory Photon (Production of images up to a value of 1000€ plus an exhibition for three months in their gallery space in Toulouse)

For either the official selection or the Jury projection
Les Jours (a portfolio published on the media website, with remuneration)

To participate in the Boutographies,

do not send dossiers by the post for the pre-selection, but only digital files.

TO CORRECTLY PREPARE YOUR DOSSIER FOLLOW THE THREE STEPS

Phase 1/ All candidates must in the first instance send their dossiers in digital form. (see details below)

Phase 2/ The festival organisers will make a pre-selection of approximately a hundred applications. Those photographers thus selected will be asked to send the same dossier in paper form (proof prints, not those destined for exhibition), for consideration by our final jury. You will have fifteen days in which to do this.

1 - Rules

Important

  • Each photographer selected for an exhibition on the walls should agree to be present for the opening weekend of the festival.
  • The accommodation for the photographer and the transport of his/her exhibition (excluding the provision of a crate) will be organised and paid for by the festival. This aid does not concern the photographers selected in projection.
  • In all cases, the aid does not extend to the production of the exhibition (there is a possibility of special tarifs with the Laboratoire Photon), not the personal travel costs of the photographer.
  • The photographers must have complete rights to show their work.
  • We do not accept inscriptions via an agent.

The organisers reserve the right to freely use the selected dossiers, in whatever media, for the promotion of the Boutographies. The organisers decline all responsibility for eventual damage or loss to the dossiers. In the case of force majeur the manifestation could be cancelled without warning, and without the possibility of financial recompense. Inscription in the Boutographies implies the acceptance of these regulations.

Inscription fees

  • The inscription fees are 22 euros per dossier sent (it is possible to submit several). They are not reimbursed in case of non-selection.

They can be paid by

  1. Cheque in euros, drawn on a French bank, and made out to « Grain d’Image »
  2. By international inter bank transfer*
  3. Or by PayPal**. (see the page Inscription Form, on web site)

Note

  • Only those dossiers complying with all the conditions below will be considered.

  • You will be informed by mail mid-November, and the names of those pre-selected will be published on this web page.

  • If you are pre-selected a paper version of your dossier containing proof prints (A4 size) will be asked for. You will have fifteen days in which to send it.

2 - Preparation of digital files

How to present your digital dossier on line.

 

  • A series of 10 to 20 photos in the following format: 1000 pixels for the longest side, 72 dpi, jpg.

ALL THE IMAGES MUST BE GROUPED TOGETHER IN A SINGLE ZIP FILE.

 

THE NAMING OF EACH IMAGE FILE SHOULD BE AS FOLLOWS: 

Name_First name_Title of the exhibition_Number of the photo / Example: Dupond_Charles_jardin_secret_02.jpg


THE NAMING OF THE FILE CONTAINING ALL THE IMAGES:

Name_First name_Title of the exhibition. Example: Dupond_Charles_jardin_secret.zip

 

  • A single subject by dossier. Collectives and groups, please contact us.
  • A text presenting your exhibition, its title and an indication of the number and size of the images that you would like to show, if selected.

 

NAMING THE TEXT FILE:

Name_First name_Title of the exhibition.text.pdf / Example: Dupond_Charles_jardin_secret.text.pdf

 

  • A brief CV + your details (Mr, Mrs, Ms), address, telephone and e-mail
