Présentation
Evolving without betraying its identity: a fragile balance that the Boutographies - Rencontres Photographiques de Montpellier team has tried to preserve over the years, innovating, expanding its offer while remaining faithful to its principles and strong professional and human convictions.
On the occasion of the change of exhibition space this year, from the Pavillon Populaire to La Panacée, the Feuille du Festival (daily) becomes the Journal du Festival gathering more articles in one edition. In addition to the catalog more specifically dedicated to the artists, you will find information such as interviews with the selected and invited photographers, focus on the other actors of the program, direct or associated partners, but also on the activities throughout the year of the association Grain d'Image which organizes the Boutographies. This is the nature of our commitment that we wish to share: to maintain the course of an aesthetic requirement in the service of contemporary photographic creation and photographers, by accompanying them as much as we can in their artistic approaches and by creating opportunities for the presentation of their work, in France and in Europe.
The time of the festival, a strong time for us and as we hope for you, visitors of one day or faithful since the beginnings, is accompanied by a time outside the festival. We have chosen to make it known to you more in these pages. Indeed, it is throughout the year that we pursue our action towards the public and the actors of photography: courses, interventions with photo clubs, photo markets, programming in rural areas, exchanges with other structures, portfolio readings and prospecting for new talents in the festivals punctuate the year of Grain d'Image, beyond the watch around the photographers that we defend in official selection. Before, during and after the Boutographies - Rencontres Photographiques de Montpellier, a number of initiatives are activated that complete our project of making photography a place of expression and frequentation of the artistic field for all, with each one of us having our own modes of investment and paths of creation.
