Présentation
This edition sees several trends at work for several years being confirmed: documentary aesthetics increasingly personal, diversification of media, increasing share of complex and multimedia installations, extension of the use of very large formats and pasted papers (the two going hand in hand), increased presence of photographers from Eastern Europe. It is one of them, the Romanian Patricia Morosan, who wins the 2019 Jury Prize with a reflection on the contours of today’s Europe, real, fantasized or elusive. Matthieu Gafsou, who made his mark at the 2018 edition of the Rencontres d'Arles with his H+ series on transhumanism, is exhibiting Only God Can Judge Me, an exhibition that addresses the question of addictions from a new angle, in line with his overall reflection on the limits of humanity, of the use of the body and free will.
