Aux Boutographies, we have been supporting emerging photography since the beginning of the event in 2001. The 2012 selection is the earliest that we have shown, and it is rich in potential. The looks are often those of adults under construction, between overprotections and vulnerabilities, traditions that unravel, disintegrate, and behavioral models fallen from the sky, interrupted vertical roots and horizontal networks without limits, between old abandoned houses and new houses that will not be inhabited. The 2012 exhibitions reveal the loss of landmarks and questions about those who remain with difficulty: religion, family and professional traditions, cultural markers near or far. To be between twenty and thirty years old today is to have to move forward on shifting sands, to deal with freedom and uncertainty, danger and the openness to wide open spaces of all possible.
