The works that the jury has chosen, testify to a very particular attention to the world, specific to photography when it knows how to forget to explain to make room for what we do not know how to say, but only evoke, wait, fear or hope, closer to the sensations and intuitions. A photograph, even if it is an author’s work, is not necessarily destined to remain forever, to make an imperishable work. But a good photograph is there at the moment that concentrates, during the minuscule duration of an aperture shutter, the unsaid of beings, of a place and an era. She has the lightness and power of what is attached to fleeting and essential perceptions. Whether premeditated or not, it sometimes preserves, when the author is present with his own complexity, what the world itself contains of indescribable and undeniable, obvious and contradictory. Like any artistic gesture, it knows how to protect what is deeply common to beings, beyond differences, conflicts, intolerances.
